The International Cricket Council (ICC) has chosen India's cricket star Yuvraj Singh as an Ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. This big event starts in just 34 days and is a huge deal for T20 cricket worldwide.

Yuvraj made history in the first-ever T20 World Cup in 2007 by hitting 36 runs in one over. That match was memorable because India won the tournament. He will be part of many exciting events promoting the World Cup in the United States. He's especially looking forward to the India versus Pakistan match in New York on 9 June.

Yuvraj Singh, who won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007, said:

"I have many happy memories of playing in the T20 World Cup, including the time when I hit six sixes in one over. So, I'm thrilled to be part of this big event.

“Playing cricket in the West Indies is amazing. The fans create a special atmosphere there. Cricket is also growing in the USA, and I'm excited to see it happen during the T20 World Cup.

“The India-Pakistan match in New York is going to be one of the biggest sporting events this year. It's an honor for me to be part of it and see the world's best players compete in a new stadium.”

Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager - Marketing & Communications, said: “It’s a privilege to have Yuvraj as an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Ambassador. He's famous for hitting six sixes in one over during a T20 match. He joins Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt as the first ambassadors announced, adding to the excitement of what will be the biggest T20 World Cup ever.”

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will run from 1-29 June, with the USA and Canada playing the opening match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. There will be 55 matches played by 20 teams at 9 venues, with the final taking place on 29 June in Barbados.

The first match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium will be played on 3 June between Sri Lanka and South Africa. A total of 10 teams will play across eight matches in New York.

The ICC has announced Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt as ambassadors for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Gayle, a key player in the West Indies' World Cup victories in 2012 and 2016, launched the trophy tour last month. The event will take place in the Caribbean and the USA, Gayle's home regions. Usain Bolt, the eight-time Olympic Gold medalist and sprinting legend from Jamaica, was revealed as an ambassador on April 24. Bolt, who initially played cricket in his youth, will be featured in the official T20 World Cup anthem by Sean Paul and Kes.
